Listed below are some tips on how to find the photographer who best fits your photography needs. Please feel free to browse through some of the most commonly asked questions about Vesko Photography’s services as well. I hope that at the end you will choose me as the best-suited professional for your next photography project.

Q: Hi Vesko, I am looking for a wedding photographer, but don’t know where to begin my search.
A: Don’t worry, many people have the same problem but the answer is really simple – do your research. It is really important that you find several photographers whose style you love. Once you select three to four photographers, arrange a meeting with each of them and go over their services, prices and portfolios. After every meeting, make a list of what you liked and didn’t like either about them or their services. After the meetings, you will be able to pick your favorite.

Q: Vesko, what qualities do I have to look for in my wedding photographer?
A: This is a great question. Let me try to point out the most important qualities every professional photographer should have:

A1. When looking at a portfolio, try to see yourself in the photos. If you like the style and emotions, and you can envision yourself in some of the frames, this photographer is probably a good fit for you.

A2. While going through the website of a photographer, look through some other galleries as well. It is important that the photographer you hire can photograph the people, the decor, the jewelry, the details in the decorations and even the location/venue itself with consistent attention to detail and composition. In simple words – look for a photographer whose portfolio is flawless.

A3. If you like the style and the overall look of a photographer’s portfolio, you should contact them and set up a meeting or a phone call. Talking to them in person is your best option. See if you like each other. It is very important that the photographer can establish and maintain a good relationship with you and your fiancé. This is probably the most important part of the booking process. My experience shows that if you work with the people you like, you won’t feel like it is work but rather an experience. And I cannot emphasize enough how important it is for everyone to have a good experience. This will dramatically affect the quality of your photos.

A4. Make sure the professional you hire is exactly that – a professional! Wedding photography is not an easy task, and not everyone can do it well. Taking the photos is only the tip of the mountain of work that is done for every photoshoot. A successful day of wedding photography requires an immense amount of preparation, organization, equipment and experience. The final product, i.e. your photos and album, require many hours of selection, post-processing and design. Professional photographers are prompt, responsible, prepared and willing to work with you. They are reliable and professional.

Q: Vesko I see you offer boudoir photography sessions.

Q1: Can you tell me a little bit more about them?
A1: The boudoir photo sessions we offer are very laid back and paced by the model. They require very extensive preparation both in understanding the goal as well as choosing the location, decor, props, clothing, make-up, hair style etc.

Q2: I am really nervous, what can I do to relax more during the shoot?
A2: Most of my models have butterflies in their stomach when they come to the shoots but once we start, it is a lot of fun really. One of the positives from extensive preparations is that by the time of the shoot begins we know each other well enough so that we can easily overcome the nervousness and just enjoy the experience. Just like with any and every other occasion, I do not recommend and approve the use of alcohol and other relaxants. I want my models to be as genuine as possible, with clear mind and spirit.  Just remember to relax and have fun!

Q3: I do not feel like I look my best and I am definitely not a model, so…
A3: The one thing most people agree on is that they do not like the way they look in photos. My goal is to show you how I see you and the fact that you are beautiful the way you are. I always show the photos I like to my clients directly on the spot, at the back of the camera, so they can see my perspective. For some clients this is quite honestly an eye opening experience and a big confidence boost once you realize how beautiful the pictures turn out

Q4: How many photos are produced on a photoshoot like this?
A4: As our goal is quality over quantity, the boudoir photo shoots usually produce less than what my clients get from let say an engagement photoshoot. There are many factors weighing in on the quality of the final product – location, number of hours we shoot, how comfortable the model is, number of props, outfits etc. This is something we could estimate however during the planning process.

Q: Vesko, I see you are based in Auburn AL, but would you agree to travel for our photoshoot?
A: Yes, of course. I am based in Auburn, but I have had photo shoots from Eastern Europe to North Dakota, from the Gulf of Mexico to North Alabama. Please do not hesitate to contact me even if the photoshoot location is far away from where we are.

Q: I love your work, but can you show me an example of a complete final product? Can I see the photos from an entire wedding?
A: I would be more than happy to do that. When we meet, I will bring a few albums from weddings I have photographed in the past and will show you the quality of the photography and the album itself.

Q: Vesko, I love your work and your personality. What do we do next?
A: I am excited that we will work together too! Now we will decide what services you are interested in and will draft a contract. There are many options to choose from. In addition to your Wedding Day Plan, you can add a Boudoir Session, Bridal Session, Photobook and most importantly, the Engagement Photo shoot. I strongly encourage my couples to use my services for the engagement session.

Q: Vesko, you suggested that we do the engagement with you as well, why is that?
A: I propose we do the engagement photoshoot together because it will be a great opportunity for us to get to know each other. I love working with people, but the more time we spend together prior to the wedding, the more relaxed with my presence you will be on your wedding day. This will translate into more candid and natural images. I will turn from “the guy with the camera” into “Vesko, our friend the photographer”.

Also, this will be somewhat of a test run for you to observe my process and see what to expect from me on your wedding day. It will be like a test run just like the ones you do with your hair and makeup. Oh, and this will save you some money, too.

Q: Vesko, I would love to work with you, but my budget is limited.
A: Due to the amount of work associated with every project, photography could be considered a big investment indeed – but unlike memories, photos do not fade away. Regardless your budget, I would love to talk to you and try to work something out.

Q: Vesko, when do you expect to be paid in full?
A: To reserve a date for a photoshoot, I will ask for a nonrefundable deposit, which is then subtracted from the grand total. The outstanding balance is expected to be paid in full no later than the day of the photoshoot itself.

Q: Vesko, is there a way to read about previous clients’ experiences with you?
A: Yes, you’re welcome to check the reviews posted on my FB page and The Knot storefront.

Q: Vesko, how many photos do you produce per photoshoot?
A: The goal of my photo shoots is not to sacrifice quality over quantity. That being said, an average portrait and engagement session produces around 30 high quality photos. Those photos are all different, meaning they each convey different messages in a variety of settings. A boudoir/bridal photoshoot can produce anywhere between 20 and 50 images. A small wedding can produce up to 400 images. Large weddings can produce more than 500 images. Everything is relevant – duration of photoshoot, location, number of participants, whether there is a second photographer, assistant etc.

Q: Vesko, how long does it take to finish editing the photos?
A: The turnaround time depends on how busy we are. Spring and Fall are the busiest seasons, and it usually takes between 6 and 8 weeks to edit an entire wedding. For the rest of the year, it usually takes between 4 to 6 weeks to finish the same amount of editing.

Q: Vesko, can I have all the photos you take during the photoshoot?
A: This is a very common question. The answer is that I always give back only carefully selected and edited images. I take pride in my work, I stand behind every photo I give back to my clients, and I make sure that they get the best of the work done during their photography session.

Q: Vesko, in what resolution do I get my photos? How about their release?
A: I believe that the photos taken on your photoshoot are the photos I was hired to take in the first place. Therefore, I always give back the photos in their highest resolution. You and I will share the copyrights so that you can print them, post them on social media and share with friends and family. The only favor I ask is to be given credit for taking them (if anyone asks). I also keep rights over them so that I can use them for advertising, social media and other business purposes.
